Paula as a puppy.
Our journey began back in April 2016 when we welcomed a delightful French bulldog named Paula into our family. Being an adventurous pup, Paula loved spending time outdoors, but the unpredictable April weather made it challenging. That's when I took it upon myself to create a practical solution for her by sewing a blouse using the sleeve of a sports jacket.

After a few blissful months, Paula experienced her first heat cycle, which caused some unexpected challenges at home. Due to her body's stiffness, she couldn't clean herself properly, so we had to find a way to help her out. We tried buying pants for her, going through five different pairs in a short period, but none of them stayed on. In a last-ditch effort, we even tried pet diapers. Unfortunately, when Paula started running up the stairs, the diapers slipped down to her thighs, resulting in a comical (yet scary) tumble down. Thankfully, she wasn't hurt, but it left us shocked. It became evident that products marketed as one-size-fits-all rarely work for everyone, especially not for our Paula.

Frustrated, I began searching through my husband's underwear drawer and stumbled upon a pair of boxer shorts that he had never worn due to their unique pattern and color. Ironically, they were men's boxer shorts, the only resemblance being their hairy legs. Inspired, I cut, sewed, and adjusted them to fit Paula, and she was finally able to wear them. However, this joyous solution didn't last long as the pants still kept slipping down. They didn't restrict her movement, cut into her waist or legs, or sit lopsided. They simply wouldn't stay in place. I constantly had to pull them up. But after some trial and error, I found a solution. Paula got pants that stayed securely in place, whether she was running during the day or sleeping at night. These new pants had no tight ribbons or uncomfortable buckles.

But here's the thing: dogs don't actually need pants. It's us humans who choose to put them on our furry friends. And if we're going to do it, let's make sure we do it in a gentle and friendly manner.

So how were the Paula Pants created?

Well, these pants were meticulously crafted to prioritize comfort. They were specially designed for French bulldogs like Paula, ensuring a secure fit. Paula was there throughout the entire process, expressing her initial disapproval and eventual satisfaction.

Let's make the time during a heat cycle a joyful experience for our furry companions!
